  • Programming – Level C

Program Contents
Key sections of the program, which is a Technical High School Program that takes place at Grenaa Technical High School, will be focused on game development. Students will enter the courses offering them the best opportunities to go on to advanced programs in computer game development.

The specialist subjects, which are basic to the program, are chosen to give students the best possible insight into the different elements of game development, from scriptwriting and design to programming and graphics.

During the program students will create different game-related products:

  • During their first year, students will develop a simple game using basic programming and graphics, as well as producing the gameplay documentation, the idea, and other aspects of game development.
  • During their second year, students form groups to create a “mod”, i.e. modifying an existing game with an emphasis on graphics and gameplay. It could be a “shoot ‘em up” where students modify the environment, the figures, and the sound.
  • During their third year, around fall break, students will go on a four-week-long stay to a US college. Working in groups, they develop a brand new game based on an existing game engine. Each group will divide the roles of instructor, programmer, level designer, character designer, and graphic designer among themselves.

Study trips
Study trips to England and Spain are also planned for the first and second years.

To prepare students for the vibrant world of computer games, an internship in the gaming industry is part of the program. The internship provides students with an insight into the everyday world of a gaming company, and they can use the experience once they are back in the classroom.
