Becoming an Industrial Machine Operator is a varied and exciting vocational education and training which can be applied in all industries and which accommodates the needs of businesses for flexible and independent employees.
 
The training is an option both for young people who want a technical education and for employees in industry who want to acquire skilled competencies.

During their training to become Industrial Machine Operators, students will learn to oversee and operate the computer-controlled production plants. Students will learn how to participate in the planning of a production assignment, and they will acquire knowledge about safety and quality control in production.

This training offers students good possibilities of specialising in the area of their primary interest.

Most students complete their training as adult apprentices, and their training can often be scheduled according to a company’s continued training programme.

At school, students will receive instruction in subjects such as English, computer-controlled technology (CAD/CAM and CNC), operating workshop machines, production planning, organic chemistry, and they can acquire a forklift certificate. Industrial Machine Operators work in fields such as food, medicine, furniture, or electronics. In addition to working with production plants, Industrial Machine Operators also work with packing and stocking.

What will students learn during their training?

  • To plan, prepare, and carry out a production and employ quality control and management in production
  • To oversee and operate industrial plants and machines
  • To carry out preventive maintenance and identify, localize, and repair faults
  • To use IT and computer-controlled production equipment in their work
  • To perform jobs in relation to internal transportation and stock, how to use the company’s logistics systems, and e.g. acquire the forklift certificate
  • To use computer-controlled technology: CAD/CAM and CNC
