Metal Working

Production and Development
In the basic course Production and Development, students will learn how to work with the different materials that go into modern production and manufacturing.

The Metal Working programme has many closely related areas of specialisation. Regardless of their choice of specialisation, students will learn how to weld, cut and bend, drill, mill, and turn, as well as thread cutting various kinds of metals. When welding and performing other kinds of processing, students will also learn how to join different parts and assemble and disassemble the finished components. Students will learn how to plan their work based on technical and financial requirements and according to the standards and laws within the field. During the course of the programme, students will be able to perform calculations of e.g. dimensions, strength, and material consumption.

The use of CNC equipment and CAD/CAM plays an increasingly large role in the field, and this development will continue. Hence programming and quality control will be of growing importance during the students’ training and in consequent jobs.
There are good possibilities for jobs within the trade. Depending on their choice of specialisation, students go on to work in metal workshops, larger companies, district heating plants, power plants, or on drilling rigs.

Students can complete their entire training (basic course and main programme of study (specialisation)) for the Metal Worker and Boilermaker at Grenaa Technical School. The remaining areas of specialisation can be completed at other technical colleges.
